Grand Rapids Cantata Choir |
|
G |
We are an auditioned chorus of about 50 men and women from West Michigan who sing classical choral music from the Renaissance to today. Some of us are professional musicians, but many of us have more informal training. All of us volunteer because we want quality and variety in our music-making. We are an equal-opportunity, non-sectarian organization that performs in a variety of locations. |

Our niche in the musical life of West Michigan is to acquaint ourselves and our listeners with great choral works that are rarely performed. We help to provide West Michigan with a greater variety of musical performances and innovative programming. In addition, our streamlined focus and schedule allow participation by people who cannot commit to other choruses with more extensive concert seasons, but who want a quality experience. |

We engage professional orchestras for most of our concerts. Most of these musicians are members of our local and regional professional symphony orchestras. Our soloists often come from within the choir, and guest soloists are also engaged. One of our goals is to provide local soloists with the opportunity to sing challenging music and to perform with full orchestra. |

We are an independent, non-profit organization, funded by individuals, foundations, art agencies, businesses and churches who contribute money, goods, services and time. Businesses buy ads in our concert programs too. |
